My Checklist for a Day Trip on the Chesapeake

Kayak Stuff

Before leaving on a kayak trip, it is good to make sure that everything is packed. I try and keep all my kayak stuff together, but some pieces always manage to escape. Things like a cell phone, digital camera, or GPS unit can be used on many activities, so they often are stored in different locations.

The right list of stuff to bring depends on the trip planned. A trip for a hour on a small lake requires different equipment than a day trip paddling in the Chesapeake Bay. It is a good idea to keep a list of the stuff you usually take with you, so that you do not arrive at the launch site without an important piece of equipment.
